Class 3 Assistant Agent FAQs
What do I get when I finish?+–
You receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the five core units of CPP41419. You lodge this with NSW Fair Trading to apply for your Assistant Agent Certificate of Registration.
Can I work on my own as an assistant agent?+–
No. An assistant agent works under the supervision of a licensee in charge who holds a Class 1 licence. You cannot enter agency agreements or sale contracts, or authorise trust account withdrawals.
How long is the certificate valid?+–
The Certificate of Registration is issued for a four-year term and is not renewable. You are expected to complete further training and progress to a Class 2 licence within those four years.
Do assistant agents have CPD requirements?+–
An assistant agent does not attend annual CPD sessions, but you must keep working towards your Certificate IV. NSW Fair Trading requires you to complete at least 3 units per year while you hold your Certificate of Registration, so you keep progressing towards your Class 2 licence.
Is this recognised by NSW Fair Trading?+–
Yes. The units are nationally recognised and meet the education requirement for the NSW Assistant Agent Certificate of Registration.
Do I need experience to start?+–
No. The course is open access and designed for people new to real estate in New South Wales.
