Common Questions

NSW Real Estate Course FAQs

What real estate licence do I need in NSW?

NSW uses a three-class structure. Class 3 (Assistant Agent) is the entry level, Class 2 is the full agent licence, and Class 1 is required to be a Licensee in Charge. Requirements can vary — speak with the Archer team to confirm the right starting point for your situation.

What is the difference between Class 3, Class 2 and Class 1?

Class 3 allows you to work as an assistant agent under a Class 1 licensee. Class 2 is a full agent licence allowing independent practice. Class 1 is required to be a Licensee in Charge — responsible for a real estate business or trust account.

How long does the NSW Assistant Agent course take?

The course is 100% online and self-paced with no fixed class times. Most students complete it within a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on how many study hours they can commit per week.

Are Archer Institute's NSW courses nationally recognised?

Yes. Archer Institute is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 45020) under the national vocational education and training regulator, the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). All qualifications are nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). In NSW, our training is designed to meet the educational requirements for the relevant licence pathway set by NSW Fair Trading, where applicable.

Can I study while working full-time?

Yes — online delivery means you access your course materials 24/7 through the student portal, at a pace that suits your schedule. Most Archer Institute students study while working full-time.

What do I do after completing my NSW course?

After completing your qualification, you apply for your licence with NSW Fair Trading. Your Archer Institute certificate is submitted as part of that application. The Archer team can provide guidance on next steps — just ask.
