Get Ready for Mandatory CPD in the Queensland Property Industry

Starting 6 June 2025, mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) will be introduced for Queensland property professionals. This new requirement ensures that industry professionals stay informed and up-to-date with their skills.

Who Needs to Complete CPD?

The following professionals must complete approved CPD training each year to maintain their licence or registration:

  • Real estate agents
  • Real estate salespersons, including property managers
  • Real property auctioneers
  • Resident letting agents

Exceptions to the CPD Requirement

While CPD is mandatory, some individuals may be exempt in specific circumstances, such as:

  • During the first 12 months after your licence is issued.
  • If your licence has been inactive for most of the CPD year.
  • If you hold a limited real estate agent licence for affordable housing or business letting.
  • If you are a public sector representative or an official licensed under the Property Occupations Act 2014.

Requesting an Exemption

In some cases, you may request an exemption from CPD requirements due to exceptional circumstances. Details about what qualifies as exceptional circumstances will be published before the requirements take effect.
